To spread the word that you can pay your own way with PayPal, we launched a campaign featuring Will Ferrell, a national sweepstakes, social-first content, and an impactful out-of-home push.

PayPal was falling behind in online checkouts and needed to shift behavior. So they enlisted Will Ferrell to share that if you check out with PayPal, and you might get your purchase paid for. Suddenly, shoppers were choosing PayPal—or even signing up—just for the chance their purchase could be free.
Pay Your Own Way Social
To announce that you can pay your own way—now, later, in one click, anywhere—we launched a campaign with Will Ferrell reworking the iconic Go Your Own Way. On social, we created a series of attention-grabbing videos: One played on the swiping motion to disrupt scroll behavior. While the others played on existing tends — What are you listening to? and What’s in my bag?

For OOH, we needed a simple, clear message: you can pay later with PayPal.
So we showed what the things they buy look like at the point of purchase versus what they look like by the time they have to pay.
